B-inspired News • July 28th 2017
On Saturday 27th of July, the B-inspired team held the last Power to Change Event to celebrate the end of the first year of the project. The ‘BARK on the PARK’ fundraising event for Braunstone and Woodside RSPCA, spread across the lovely green setting of Braunstone Park. The day involved a gentle walk suitable for all dogs, a range of doggy competitions and completing a short power to change consultation with dog treats as a reward.
The family friendly fun activity had 30 dogs attend with their families. The day had a fantastic atmosphere with 50 people enjoying the weather and activities provided.
One member of the community described the event as ‘a fantastic initiative to raise funds for such worthy causes and it was a great opportunity for my little poppy to get out of the house and meet new friends. We loved the doggy training demonstration and competitions’.
Attendees donated around 30 tins of pet food to help support the local causes. We also sold a number of ‘Made in Braunstone with Love’ dog toys, bow ties and bandanas at our Market Stall. The tombola and market stall sales raised a further £137.15 to support the local causes. If you missed the event, you can get yours from ‘The Garage Sale’ on 45 Wellinger Way, Braunstone, LE3 1RG. We’re open Tuesday, Wednesday and the first Saturday of each month, you can check out times on our event calendar.
The event aimed to get community involvement and insights in to setting up a new community business through B-inspired’s Power to Change Funding (supported by the big lottery). We asked people if they ‘would be interested in getting involved to create a community business specialising in dog related services’. 50% of people surveyed said they would be interested in supporting this further. We also asked what type of services would be of benefit to the Braunstone community. Our answers so far are below:
