B-inspired News • August 3rd, 2018
Back in 2004, B-inspired (formally Braunstone Community Association) funded the building of the Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre on Hockley Farm Road, Leicester for the local community. This was through the Labour Governments’ ‘New Deal for Communities’ funding which aimed at improving the lives of people in Braunstone over a sustained period of time.
The funding was managed by ASRA housing (now PA Housing) who went on to own and manage the building up until last month, in trust for the community. On the 3rd July 2018, PA Housing kindly released and transferred the asset to The Braunstone Foundation (the charity name of B-inspired). This is to allow B-inspired to have autonomy over its legacy, management of the building and have opportunities to develop more community-based services for Braunstone residents.
Angie Wright, Chief Officer of B-inspired said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for b-inspired to link the Health Centres Services, with the other support services B-inspired currently offers to improve the lives of Braunstone Residents.”
Nothing is changing for registered patients. The services and high-quality health care will remain the same. The only thing that has changed is the ownership and the management of the building, which is now a part of B-inspired. The building will still have the Apple a Day café, the GP practice, Health Service / Support Teams and a Chemist.
Just in case you were not aware the teams that are based in the building are as follows:
- Health Visitors
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Adults and children Psychologists
- Looked After Children Team
- Therapy Team
- District Nurses
- Community Mental Health Team
- Community Integrated Neurology and Stroke Services
- Adult Mental Health
- Occupational Therapy Assessment Team
The Centre also holds regular clinics for:
- New born Audiology
- ADMH Perinatal
- Heart Failure Specialist
- Huntingdon’s Disease Clinic
- Children’s phlebotomy

As an organisation we are incredibly proud to take over such an amazing asset in the community and welcome three new staff members to the B-inspired team.

Vavak Assi (left) is the centres Caretaker & Handyman. He is as dedicated to the Health Centre, as he is to playing Hockey which he has played for nearly 50 years.
Hema Meisuria (right) is the Centre Administrator. Her favourite colour is olive green, which is impressively specific and shows just how much attention to detail she gives to everything in her life; supporting her work in a busy centre.
The team as a whole, are looking forward to working with the various B-inspired teams more effectively. They are excited by the new opportunities it holds for the Health Centre and the positive impact it can make in Braunstone.
