B-inspired to develop another community-based asset in Braunstone…

Community News   •   August 23rd 2018

One of Braunstone’s most loved Youth Centres will now be managed by B-inspired.  Leicester City Council has offered ‘The Grove’ to B-inspired as a ‘Community asset transfer’ as part of the city council’s Transforming Neighbourhood Services Programme.

B-inspired will work with the local community to develop a lively hub of community activity.  We will work with Street Vibe (who currently operate out of the building) to offer more services and activities for young people.  Along, with working with local football teams, dance clubs and fitness classes to host a range of multi-sporting activity on the site. This is to encourage more young people to get active and support them in making better lifestyle choices for the future.

The grove will also play host to facilities and services, to be used by the whole community.  The building will provide space for community groups to hire at a reasonable price, provide access to IT facilities, offer training to support residents with a range of different endeavours and be host to a new community café / restaurant.

As this news only became public knowledge on 21st of August, it is still quite early for us to give you more details at present.  However, be assured that we will keep you informed of our developments and will be listening to local resident’s needs, wants and desires as we develop this amazing asset in to a real Community  Hub.

Angie Wright, B-inspired’s Chief Officer told us: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been approved to take over the Grove as a Community Asset Transfer.  The City Council have put faith in us to work with the community to make things happen in this building, which has sadly been underused for a few years.  Working with local Football Teams and Community Groups we will be able to develop lots of activities that local people have asked for.  We hope to bring in funding to improve and develop the facilities and will be asking for you to share all those brilliant skills and talents we know are in Braunstone, to help make things happen.  Look out for more news!”.

B-inspired as an organisation is excited by this wonderful piece of good news and looks forward to working with the community to develop a place for everyone.
