Preloved@45 – Community Shop Opens its Doors for the First Time…

B-inspired News   •   August 6th, 2021

After 4 years in the making; from the initial consultation with what the community to see what they wanted, to the refurbishment of the old office space on Wellinger Way.  It’s finally time to introduce you to the ‘Preloved@45 – Community Shop’.

The brand-new community business is run by local people, for local people.  The shop will be selling a range of good quality ‘Preloved’ women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories, along with a great selection of homeware and white goods at affordable prices for local people.

Through the support of the ‘Empowering Places programme’ funded via Power to Change – Community Lottery fund and B-inspired’s vision on making Braunstone Brighter for the future.  Preloved@45 was created to fill a much needed gap in the local community.

The new community shop opened its doors for the first time today to the public, with its first taster session for local people.  Shoppers got the chance to see the new retail outlet, ask staff and volunteers questions about the shops plan for the future and had the first chance to see what type of products the shop will be selling.

The shops first customer Kym Marshall cut the ribbon and officially opened the store just after 10am this morning.  There was then a steady flow of customers throughout the 4 hour opening period.

The first taster session raised £500, which is a fantastic achievement.  The community gave really positive feedback upon the store’s decor, quality and selection of goods.

There was also a raffle for customers with the chance to win a fantastic hamper full of goodies.  The lucky winner was Emma Ashby, who will be receiving her hamper shortly.

Throughout August, Preloved@45 will be holding a range of taster sessions, opening on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm.  These sessions will feed into the shops retail strategy and provide valuable information about what the community wants to see in the up-coming months.

In September, the shop will have consistent opening hours in place and will be doing an official launch event celebrating the opening of the store fully.  More details will be announced on social media in due course.

Staff and volunteers has a great time meeting the local community and told b-inspired…

‘The day has been fantastic, there has been so much hard work come from community volunteers to make this a success.  I can’t thank them enough for support, enthusiasm and dedication that they have shown over the past year’.
