B inspired run programme of activities for Mental Health Awareness Week
22nd May 2024
Mental Health Awareness Week took place from Monday 13th - Sunday 19th May. This year, the Mental Health Foundation were working with Sport England and the theme for the week was #MovingForOurMentalHealth.
As you may have seen on our social media, b inspired’s Neighbourhood Support Team delivered a programme of activities; all with the aim of increasing awareness around Mental Health, as well as getting people moving! You can see below some of the activities that took place each day.
Monday
On Monday, anyone who visited the Neighbourhood Support Base was invited to pick up an activity pack. All of the activities in the pack were aimed around getting people moving and encouraging them to take part in activities that would have a positive effective on their mental health and wellbeing. The activities in the packs included colouring pages, chair yoga exercises, hints and tips and more!
Tuesday
On Tuesday, we encouraged people to try something new. Our Mens Group visited Braunstone History Group, over at the Stable Block Museum and our Sandyhurst Talk Timers took part in a chair-based dance session by Curve Theatre.
We also served tea and coffee to our Foodshare members on Tuesday and Wednesday, encouraging them to stop by and have a chat!
Wednesday
Wednesday was the first of our ‘Weekly Wellbeing’ sessions. The aim of these sessions is to enable people to develop tools and strategies they can use to improve their general wellbeing. We have more sessions taking place in May and June, please click here to find out more.
Thursday
On Thursday, some of the Neighbourhood Support Team joined Live Well Leicester for their weekly health walk. We walked across Braunstone Park, Western Park and then back again! This walk takes place every week, with the group meeting at 10am every Thursday, at b inspired's Neighbourhood Support Base, Gallards Hill, LE3 1QR.
The Neighbourhood Support Team were also wearing green, to raise awareness for mental health.
Friday
On Friday, we had our penultimate Walking Football session. This session took place at The Grove Community Hub. There is still one session left, that takes place this week. You can find out more about it here.
