b-inspired uses sport as a vehicle to address a number of issues that communities face, such as educational attainment, health, crime and unemployment. Our aim is:

‘To use sport and physical activity as a way of improving the quality of life for communities, now and in the future.’

The Grove Community Hub

For nearly 50 years The Grove was an important part of the community here in Braunstone. Initially known as The Coffee Bar in the 1970s, it became the home of an adult learning service and, more recently, as a youth centre and sports facility

Sadly, in 2016, Leicester city council stopped delivering services from the building and wanted to handover ownership to the community. This meant that the building was underused for many years and sadly fell prey to regular vandalism. The Foundation thought that it was time that The Grove was bought back to life and once again become an important part of Braunstone and our community and so we took over the lease of the building from the city council in 2019 and began renovating The Grove and turning it into a community hub that everyone in Braunstone can be proud of, with a large open day help for the community in February 2020.

We now have a range of facilities and services available at The Grove for the community to use

  • 4G artificial Football Pitch
  • Two new community businesses supported by b-inspired: Parkside Community Café and Penalty Box Social Bar
  • Community hall – perfect for dance and fitness sessions, or group meetings, events, functions
  • Meeting and office space
  • Sports, dance and fitness activities – including 2 community businesses that are based at The Grove – ER Dance and FSD sports academy
  • Availability to hire space – football pitches, fitness / dance studio, meeting room, function room
  • Educational activities – training, courses
  • Parties – Zorb, football and dance
